02/09/2024 Pam’s Fundraiser for Silkworth Charity Group
Hi, my name is Pam. I am raising money for Silkworth Group in Jersey who are a charity that support individuals and families affected by addiction. I turned 50 this year and wanted to celebrate in a different way. I am going to challenge myself by running the Jersey Marathon, a first for me and taking the plunge with a skydive – another first!
My reason for fundraising is very personal. My husband and best friend was supported through Silkworth’s programmes and has been clean and sober for nearly 15 years as a result of their help. Silkworth provides the only residential treatment centre in the Channel Islands and my husband benefitted from this support which has enabled him to continue with his life dependency free.
I have worked in the charity sector for the past 8/9 years but never actually fundraised for myself. This is a personal challenge and without Silkworth being there for my husband I would never have met him. I am inspired every single day by my husband’s outlook on life and living the ‘just for today’ way.
