Silkworth Lodge has recently completed a £42,000 building project that has seen the full development and refurbishment of three of its client bedrooms.
This was a project that ran for three months and seen the full stripping back of three of our en-suite client bedrooms which included new internal wall insulation, new ensuite shower rooms, new carpets and furniture. Whilst the project took some time to complete, it was carried out with minimal disruption to our clients that were in treatment at the time and resulted in Silkworth Lodge now providing all bedrooms with single occupancy and modern high quality ensuite facilities.
Special thanks must be given to the Association of Jersey Charities (AJC ) who contributed a significant grant of £30,000. The AJC has been a consistent funding supporter of Silkworth Lodge over many years and have made it possible over those years for us to carry out significant works and development to our building, so we sincerely thank them for the support that they have given and continue to give us. We would also like to express our thanks to professional services firm, Ogier, who kindly provided us with a donation of £5000 which came at the end of the project when we were seeking additional funding. We extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Ogier’s Jersey CSR Committee for considering and making this donation to our charity. The remainder of the required funds were received from funds that were received from the closing balance of the ‘Prison Me No Way’ service, who distributed their closing balances between three nominated charities of which Silkworth was lucky enough to be one, so we would like to extend our thanks to Lesley Harrison for nominating Silkworth as one of the charitable beneficiaries.
It is important for Silkworth Lodge to do everything it can to provide a comfortable environment for our clients, as this is their home for the time that they reside with us. We are continually looking to develop and improve our environment within the financial constraints that we face, however the island of Jersey provides fantastic community support from a funding perspective and for that we are extremely grateful.
The building work was carried out by Trillium Facilities Limited, who did so with the upmost professionalism at all times, understanding the sensitivities around our client group and keeping us regularly informed of any issues and updates at all times.
